The great humility of not knowing.
Beginners mind, Zen Mind
I always find the best approach in meditation is to “start again”.
Come to every sitting, every moment, with a truly fresh mind, the unknowing mind. There is a great humility in this. Actually “not knowing” is the most liberating feeling.
When we truly stay mindful and in the moment, there is no past or knowledge we need to refer to, and to quote Zen philosophy:
Beginners Mind, Zen Mind.
