One of the most memorable days I have experienced in my yoga lifetime was the day I lay down to practice Shavasana for 8 hours in a day. It was an amazing experience, so deeply restorative and important for my emotional and physical health at the time.
It is so rare that we would ever give ourselves the opportunity to take rest for a day and take our mind into higher planes of awareness. Not so surprisingly, Shavasana is said to be the hardest pose to master.
Yoga Nidra is another opening all together – it is a mental training that opens the mind into psychic and vast planes of awareness and with the use of intention (sankalpa) yoga nidra can create positive and virtuous cycles in our lives.
Shavasana and Yoga nidra are two things I believe in with all my heart.
