Move Towards Suffering
That which we most wish to avoid in our lives is our own suffering and the suffering of others. Perhaps the most compassionate action we can take is to move towards and to truly understand it ~ for ourselves and for others.
Our own suffering is our greatest teacher. Truly, there can not be true happiness without some understanding of pain.
By moving towards pain in our own bodies, our minds, and our hearts ~ we start to see clearly and gain true insight.
When we move towards another being who is suffering, we are motivated by true love. It is a state of deep submission and compassion.
Move towards suffering. This is the way of the Bodhisattva ~ a being motivated by great compassion.
