What our friends have said of their experiences of Brisbane's Upper Brookfield Yoga Retreats: Celia Roberts Testimonials
My experience of yoga has been a journey of self discovery, connection, healing, growth and physical wellbeing. Ayurvedic massage deals with the mind body and spirit. My experience was a deep healing in all three elements. I am very grateful to Celia, who has a unique gift in healing. Sheryl E

I really enjoyed yesterday and have felt so good since. I had such a wonderful time with my daughter last night and today have felt calm and happy. My hands tingle and I feel heat coming from my face and hands. I have been conscious of my breathing as well. Look forward to the next one.
Hi Celia, Just wanted to say thank you for the knowledge and inspiration you shared yesterday at the retreat. I enjoyed it immensely and did such a lovely practice and meditation last night which was really enhanced by the retreat earlier in the day. I have been feeling fantastic today and I am teaching a class this afternoon and will be doing my own meditation this evening. So looking forward to it.
Celia, thanks for an excellent workshop on Sat. The group meditations are so powerful and it was good to share experiences, especially yours. Many thanks
Celia - This was the Emily Dickinson saying that came to my mind after the retreat "To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.
Yoga is great and relaxing. It is also a time to have a laugh and test your limits.
Yoga with Celia has given me a sense of strength not only physically but emotionally. This coupled with Ayurvedic massage has improved my overall wellbeing and my ability to meet the everyday challenges of family life.
Having not done yoga before, Celia's classes have been such a great way to learn about yoga and I've found it beneficial in so many ways, from building strength and flexibility, to improving posture and an overall calmness in the body and mind. Celia helps students get the most out of every posture physically, as well as building awareness of the different energy channels and chakras that are being worked. Different areas or systems of the body are focused on each week which brings variety and which I've found interesting to learn about. Overall, I've really enjoyed these classes as a holistic body-mind exercise, and the lovely atmosphere Celia creates
I started the practice of yoga at age 17 in 1969 when yoga was very new to Australia and to Brisbane. I was living at one of the colleges at the University of Qld and began attending the Ailsa Gartenstein school of yoga - which was upstairs in a dimly lit, and very modest room.I remember feeling very good after the sessions so a friend and I went to considerable trouble to get there weekly on Wednesday evenings (with our rolled up beach towels to put over the carpet) for our yoga practice.Over the years, I have had 5 exercises which I am committed to do very frequently, if not daily. My idea is that if I can still do these today( saving some catastrophic event)I will be able to do them on all of my tomorrows. My plan is to improve my meditation and equanimity. Meanwhile, I love the weekly class with Celia. It spices up the daily 5 practices and I now have a couple of extras, which are a must- do" practices- to help with specific health issues. Yoga is a self- empowering form of physical exercise. Ultimately, it encompasses an entire philosophy. That is it's enormous appeal to me.
My experience of yoga with Celia has been great...not only is she an amazing teacher she intuitively knows what’s needed on an individual level as well as for the group she is working with. Her knowledge & education of the different chakras & how they relate to different parts of the body is an added bonus for me!
I enjoy the yoga classes and massages immensely, and a testament to that is that I refer a lot of my friends regularly. In fact I PREACH to my friends that they don’t know what they are missing out on if they don’t get there NOW. Oh, and I get despondent if I have to miss class.
I have been doing yoga for the last 35 years and have always found it very uplifting and rewarding, keeping me supple and fit and for people who hate the gym (like me). It is a wonderful form of exercise.
Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the yoga class on a Monday. To me it feels like I am giving my body a good stretch, in places that haven’t been touched in years. It is as though where there was darkness now there is light!!
My name is Elaine and I turned 60 last year. I suffer from arthritis and took up Yoga because I needed some exercises to keep my joints mobile. Taking classes from Celia is far more than just exercising. She has a caring and nurturing nature and a great teacher. I love the holistic approach that Celia takes. The poses, breathing, focus on positive intent, and the relaxation segment at the end, are all beneficial to myself both physically and mentally. I look forward to my weekly session and wish I have time to do more.
Again thank you very much for your efforts and skill today, obviously I have had previous massages, however what I experienced today was amazing. I am still lost for the correct words to describe how wonderful it was, you truly are special person.
Dear Celia, I felt so relaxed and safe in your healing space. I loved the beautiful oils and letting my self receive some nurturing and it allowed the space to open up for healing. Thankyou.
Oh before I forget, I think this is worth mentioning to you. A fews days after your massage, I got on my mat to do some yoga home practice and had an amazing experience. While getting into the bridge pose, I realised I was now able to grab my ankles – this has never been achieved before despite previous attempts!!! I simply eased into it and was so surprised I chuckled while I was in the asana. The next couple of days subsequent to that first day, I did the bridge again to check if I could still grab my ankles and sure enough, I can comfortably hold onto them while I’m in this asana. This is really tremendous given it used to be a challenge in the past. I felt so much joy just from this one little change to my practice. I then read in my “Bridge Pose” card that one of the benefits of this asana is that it opens the chest and the heart and I believe what happened on the massage table had directly impacted my ability to reach another level with this asana.
Just wanted to say thank you for helping me. I am out of pain both physically and emotionally and can move to do yoga. You truly are a gifted healer. You are a beautiful woman a true ANGEL. I am so grateful for all you have done for me.
