Welcome to BIYOME’s pilgrimage!
This could truly be the life changing journey you are seeking.
Just over 7 years ago I was drawn to a 30 day silent retreat in Myanmar – it was challenging, yet I was forever changed. You can see from the images that there was a simplicity to the experience that simply cannot be provided in Brisbane. We practiced in a large meditation room, wore daily robes (longyis) and stayed in huts. We woke at 3.00am daily and had only two long eating meditation meals per day at 5am and 10am. We meditated daily for 14 hours from 3.30am to 10.00pm and while it was a very challenging form of mental training, the time I spent in this beautiful Burmese Forest Monastery forever changed me for the better – I am in part the teacher I am today because of this experience.

Recently I have been so deeply inspired by the beauty of the world – our most precious and greatest eco retreat centre – and as such I have decided to share my own learnings with others through an experiential teacher training journey. This journey shall be an immersive eight day pilgrimage to Myanmar (Burma) - a walking meditation retreat in January 2020. This eight-day mindful trek, 8-15 January 2020, shall immerse you to the surrounds of the Inle Lake region in Myanmar (Burma), Southeast Asia. Through a dedication to mindfulness, yoga, periods of silence, seated meditation, eating meditation, and walking meditation practices you shall experience a slow-paced form of travel that awakens an inner sense of joy and appreciation for the world that surrounds you.
Being led by local guides and staying in monasteries and homestays throughout the journey, as well as one beautiful rest day at a hotel close to the beautiful Inle Lake, an appreciation for the simplistic elegance of local culture and nature will reinvigorate the innate capacity for simply ‘being’ that life within the city cannot provide. This trek shall provide a focus on true connection with the vast outdoors and the opportunity to earn a meditation teacher qualification should you wish to share with others. This is an amazing opportunity to find a place of presence and power within you in order to teach others – with NO books required!
We have only 13 places for this pilgrimage and expect them to fill quickly.
The full cost of this Meditation Retreat in Myanmar is $3,165 which includes registered meditation teacher training, 8-day tour, some meals, accommodation as stipulated in attached itinerary. Flights are not included in costs outlined above and are the responsibility of the student or person travelling. We meet in Yangon on the 8th January 2020 and return on the 15th January.
Those who wish to become a registered meditation teacher following the trip will have to complete a simple daily practice journal for three months after the trip and teach three meditation classes with documented photo records to family, students, or friends.
