We can modify our genes….How? By simplifying our lives.
How we modify our gene expression through yoga and mindfulness: Epigenetics
Our environment and our choices, our nutrition, and the practice of Yoga and Meditation actually modify our gene expression in nervous and immune systems. It is not all based on inheritance!
If we regularly participate in yoga and mindfulness based stress reduction activity, the relaxation response elicits specific gene expression changes. This occurs in short-term and long-term practitioners. Consistent and constitutive changes in gene expression resulting from the practice of yoga and meditation relate to long term very beneficial physiological effects.
How our environment effects our genes.
Living simply and being in Nature is very important. Changing our environment dramatically alters genes, almost immediately! Studies into bees and their hives show that a change of environment can immediately change aggressive bees into calm bees, and the other way around as well. Choose your work and home environment wisely.
How our thoughts effect our genes.
Most remarkably, genes change based on behaviour and thought. Genes switch onto to combat infection, or can become damaged and develop cancer. If too many genes change then the entire nature of the cell can be different, and therefore the entre nature of a person!
Keep your good intentions clear, with daily reminders on your purpose, and focus on all that is good, modifying that which is no longer necessary. Eliminate stressors.
How to change your genes:
Eat well
Live in a quiet, stable environment
Reduce stress
Simplify
Minimalize
Meditate
Practice Yoga
Exercise
Enhance your good relationships
Be Altruistic
